/simˈplisədē/, noun

In a sentence: “in simplicity life is totally uncomplicated”

Synonyms: candor, modesty, directness, ease, naturalness, pleasing, ease, purity

Significance: A simple life is a life without conflict. A life without conflict is a life of joy. A state of being free from complications, weight, conflict, difficulty. Simplicity is a mental, emotional and physical way of being. Simplicity is typically a conscious choice. We can choose if we want conflict or ease in life at any given time. Not only in our relationships, but in our day to day organizational and structural lives. It has been stated that simplicity is an indicator of genius and ingenuity, because in simplicity we find efficiency and ease. We have more time when life is simplified and uncomplicated. Simplicity takes on more meaning in our lives as we take on more and more responsibilities. When life becomes more complicated due to an excess of duties and obligations, we tend to become more aware of the need to simplify. The result of simplicity is access to more priceless time, and peace of mind. Thus, we begin to evaluate how we lead our lives and invest our time, efficiently. We’re forced to reconsider and readjust. An example of the implementation of simplicity: Choosing to scale-down in terms of cost and ease of living. Instead of owning a mansion with nonstop maintenance and headaches, one might choose to scale back and go for a penthouse condo with HOA fees. With this practical choice, everything is handled with one check, as opposed to multiple vendors, maintenance men, chores, and headaches. Simplicity allows for peace of mind which leads to more clarity. Simplicity is minimalism. In simplicity we find the ultimate “less is more” paradox: Doing with less creates more… (more simplicity). More simplicity equates to more time, money, energy. Simplicity is an awareness, and then it becomes a choice. Once simplicity registers in the mind, the appropriate behavior follows suit. When life becomes too complicated, a person says, “I can’t do this anymore. I need to simplify!” At which point the wheels begin to turn and a person transforms into simplicity. (A perfect example of the process of awareness and transformation).
